Don't like the new URL

The Ottawa library is changin their URL from library.ottawa.on.ca to biblioottawalibrary.ca and I don't like it.

Mind you, I mostly use their portal located at lirico.ca any how, so it is not a big deal.

I suppose if I was like most people, I would just bookmark pages, but I don't. I insist on typing in each and every URL I visit. Just as I insist on typing in each and every username and password I have.

For a software developer, I can be a terrible Luddite at times.

I do the same thing you do and I develop software also. I also refuse to program a speed dial.

Sounds funny to me too, as I am such a slow typist, I'll do anything to cut down on it...I make a lot of mistakes!

Not only am I a simpleton when it comes to computers (Yes, yes...I have to admit that I bookmark)--I also had to Google (bookmarked..and i am not kidding :-D) Luddite.

vina: if it makes people smile, then it makes me happy.

MOI: I think it has to do with having control. If it is all automatic, I will forget it.

kaymac: I am not saying I never bookmark things, but I tend to use the bookmark to either (1) temporarily mark something while I am searching, (2) mark somethign that I use infrequently and had to search for.

For instance, I don't bookmark the Government of Canada Revenue site because a quick Google search will turn it up. But I will bookmark some osbcure science article because it was hard to find.

Of retirement and death

All I long for, all I have longed for for years is to retire (prior to wanting to retire, my ambition was to play). Given a chance not to work, I would take it. However, this is not because of laziness or some inherent trait of sloth. Rather it is because I want to pursue my own interests and ideas; I want to do my own thing. One of the saddest things I find in talking with people about not working (aside from obvious disapproval) is that they like working, they would get bored not working, after all, there is only so much TV one can watch. Hmmm ... a pretty sad comment I think. I have a mind full of ideas. There are lots of things which grab my interest, which distract me as I journey through life. Finding what I want to do is hard., because every week I can have a new thing I want to pursue. Some might argue that I am not disciplined. Borrowing and modifying an idea from Ingrid , I present 14 bits of information about myself. Seven are real. Seven are false. This is also partially inspired by Carra 's post about weird things about herself. When I was into model rocketry, I used to roll my own rocket engines and make my own rocket fuel. I often had "catastrophic" engine failure. I have never been intoxicated. Not even a little bit "happy". I have had the privilege and pleasure of going out with women from every continent except Antarctica (for the obvious reason there are no indigenous Antarcticans).
