Were you there?

Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Oh . . .
Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?
Oh . . .
Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?

Were you there when they pierced Him in the side?
Were you there when they pierced Him in the side?
Oh . . .
Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they pierced Him in the side?

Were you there when the sun refused to shine?
Were you there when the sun refused to shine?
Oh . . .
Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when the sun refused to shine?

Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb?
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb?
Oh . . .
Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb?

I remember singing this as a child. I was always struck by the feeling I had when I sang "tremble, tremble, tremble". Is was as if I were there...
WOW! I had never heard this before I joined the Easter Cantata choir at a local church and one man sang this as a solo. It was beautiful!

barbara: I think it is a very powerful song and always liked it.

MOI: unfortunately, they do not sing it at my current church, which is too bad, because I think I have heard in every other church I have ever attended Good Friday services.
